Even though AI image generators don’t use real cameras, they often simulate the aesthetics of specific gear.

Including terms like camera brand, lens type, and film stock in your prompt can dramatically influence the final result—especially when stacked with lighting styles and scene context.

Best Practices for Prompting

  • Stack camera types, lenses, and film styles for a signature look: DSLR photo with an 85mm lens, shot on Kodak Portra 400, soft window light.

  • Pair with lighting styles: Combine with “golden hour,” “hard flash,” “Rembrandt lighting,” etc.
