How I Made a Wendy’s Rap Battle in a Single Night Using GenAI Tools
A Fast Food Fight for the AI Ages
What started as a clever marketing play by Popeyes quickly turned into a full-on AI-fueled content war. And I couldn’t help myself.
This is the story of how I jumped head-first into a late-night challenge to create a Wendy’s-themed AI rap battle video—from concept to finished product—in just over 12 hours.
The result?
A fully AI-animated, lip-synced music video that’s now racking up views across social platforms and becoming part of a broader creative movement.
The Origin of the “W-R-A-P” Battle
The whole thing kicked off when PJ Accetturo, working with the team behind Popeyes, dropped a rap battle-style promo for their new wraps.
In the video, Popeyes playfully took shots at McDonald’s. It was fast, smart, and funny.
Then came King Willonius, a Top 100 AI creator, who dropped a surprise response track from McDonald’s point of view.
This was completely unsolicited, not brand-backed—just made for the fun of it.
His video was hilarious and polished, and I immediately knew I had to get involved.
And if anyone was going to jump into the ring with attitude, it had to be Wendy’s—the queen of clapbacks, Twitter roasts, and brand swagger.
I didn’t set out to get paid or pitch this to them (in fact they have been radio silent on socials about this video).
I just wanted to contribute something creative to the moment, while showcasing how quickly AI tools can bring ideas to life—when the idea is strong and the tools are well understood.
Why It Mattered (and Why I Did It Anyway)
Look, I didn’t plan to start a passion project at 5pm on a Friday night after a brutal work week.
In a traditional agency or brand environment, something like this might take weeks of approval cycles, budget sign-offs, and rounds of revisions.
But this was a pure “I have to make this now” moment.
And with the right tools and clarity of vision, it’s now possible to go from idea to finished, professional-grade content in a matter of hours.
This wasn’t just a one-off.
More creators have since jumped in—another response track from McDonald’s, a new one from Five Guys, and likely more on the way.
It’s not just a wrap battle between fast food chains anymore.
It’s becoming a wrap battle between AI creators.
